Open Forum/Guest & Visitor Comments:
Dennis welcomed all of the visitors and guests to the meeting.
Review of Agenda:
Dennis stated that the agenda for the evening was very short. A transition ceremony of the old to the new council members is planned, and a social with everyone will follow. All members had previously received copies of various committees’ minutes, and they will be discussed at next month’s meeting. The council members were asked if any had pressing issues which could not wait until the next meeting. At this point, Tom Wisniewski advised that everyone was supplied with a copy of a summary of a meeting of June 7, 2006 attended by Judy Kalinowski, Father Bob, Brian Fleming, Scott Weyda representing the archdiocese, and Tom referring to school issues discussed at the May 2006 council meeting.
Joe Amrhein indicated no minutes were received from the Prayer and Worship Committee. Rich Lussier distributed a newly prepared roster of the new Council and requested that each person review the data referring to him/herself. Rich also said photographs will be taken at the July meeting and a bulletin board with Council information would be located at the Marquette site. In answer to a question as to whether a meeting would actually be scheduled for July, Dennis replied affirmatively and indicated that new officers for the Council would be selected at that meeting.
Pastors’ Reports:
Father Ron began his abbreviated report by indicating that Father Bob could not be present at tonight’s meeting because of his attendance at a wedding rehearsal in Racine. He also said everyone should have received by e-mail the progress report regarding the parking lot.
Committee Report Comments:
Copies of the following minutes were made available to council members prior to this meeting: Building & Grounds Committee dated June 7, 2006, and Parish Life Committee dated June 1, 2006
NEW BUSINESS:
Installation of New Council Members. The outgoing council members were Joe Amrhein, Carol Anger, Leslie Henry, Sean Nuyda and Tom Wisniewski. The incoming members are Dean Kick, Chris Kujawa, Linda Laguna, Sean Nuyda and Steve Raflik. The transition ceremony was conducted by Dennis. The outgoing members were thanked for their dedication and performance as council members, and the incoming members were thanked for their agreement to represent the parishioners on the Council. The outgoing members literally passed their burning candles, or torches, to the incoming members to continue confronting the challenges of the Council. Each of the outgoing members was then presented with a gift in appreciation for their work on the Council. Father Ron then prayed for the new council members for wisdom and for guidance by the Holy Spirit, that decisions will not be made from a personal viewpoint but will be made for the good of the entire parish. OTHER NEWS, NOTES, COMMENTS AND/OR ANNOUNCEMENTS. For the benefit of all new council members, a comment was made that copies of all council and various committee minutes can be picked up at the parish office on the Monday or Tuesday prior to each council meeting. Dennis thanked Tracey Borzick for obtaining all the gifts previously presented to the outgoing council members. All council members were given a magnetized Divine Mercy nametag to be worn at public events within the parish.
Closing Prayer: Leslie distributed and all council members read the closing prayer, We Give Thanks This Day, by O. Eugene Pickett.
Adjournment: The formal meeting adjourned at 6:55 p.m., and thereafter followed a social hour.
Respectfully submitted, Marcy Gramza, Recording Secretary July 5, 2006 |
