Divine Mercy Christian Women


Purpose:

The performance of works of charity and mercy towards others and to promote the teachings and gospels of Jesus Christ.

Meetings:

We meet five times a year on the second Sunday of October, December, February, March, and May. The May meeting is our Mother's Day celebration. Each meeting is held in conjunction with a Mass, offered for the intention of living and deceased members.

Committees:

Sunshine - remembering the sick with greeting cards and prayers, families of decreased members with condolence cards, new members with welcome cards.

Funeral Breakfast - the committee chairperson coordinates a breakfast or brunch for any member of our St. John's congregation.

Baptismal Garments - members stitch garments for newly baptized members.

Shrine of the Blessed Mother - maintains the Shrine.

Church Assistance - members oversee cleaning of vestments and altar cloths and provides assistance to maintaining the sacristy.

Fundraising - chairperson coordinates help during fundraiser. Fundraising ideas change throughout the years, but currently our profitable fundraisers are bake sales and flower sales.
 

We have contributed to many various organizations, usually dealing with women and children's need. Some of our benefactors are: Divine Mercy School, The Hope House, The Sojourner Truth House, St. Catherine's, Human Concerns, The Prolife Organization, …
