Divine Mercy Catholic Community | South Milwaukee, WI

Home & School

The Divine Mercy Home and School Committee is a volunteer group of parents, teachers and the principal working to enhance our children's' educational and social experience. We strive to foster and maintain good public relations within the school and community. An additional goal is to communicate and inform parents of programs and classroom activities, and to encourage parent participation.

The Home and School Association sets out to accomplish these goals through volunteers. These Home and School members have fundraisers throughout the year, which provide funds for the programs listed in this booklet.

The Home and School Association meetings are held throughout the year and are open to anyone wishing to attend. This year the meetings will be held in the evenings from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria as indicated in the tentative schedule below. The dates, times and minutes of the meetings are published monthly on the calendar that comes home in the weekly folder. Parent participation is always needed for many school functions. At the beginning of the school year, a flyer will be sent home requesting parent volunteers. Please sign up and become involved in any activity you prefer . Your positive attitude is always welcome!

Mission Statement

The mission at Divine Mercy Catholic School is to empower children to develop the attitudes, skills, and knowledge they will need to become lifelong learners and independent, productive members of society and future leaders of the Catholic Church.  We believe this can be achieved through a school-family partnership of care and dedication.

Home and School sets aside funds for other activities/needs such as breakfast with Santa, replacement of Rainy day items for the classroom, copier paper supplies, and other miscellaneous expenses.  In the event of dissolution of the Association, the assets of the Home and School shall be used for the benefit of the students of Divine Mercy Catholic School.

Market Day

Market Day is a monthly food sales program from which we earn a percentage of the profit from orders by our school families and parish members.  For over 30 years Market Day has been providing convenient, healthy foods at a value for families and raising funds for schools.  Orders can be placed through monthly order forms distributed in the red school folders and available at each church location.  Online ordering is also available at www.marketday.com.  Market Day pick-up occurs on one Thursday every month from 3-4pm in the school cafeteria.  For more information, please contact Tina McNamara, 570-1215.

Need to stock up on Market Day items in between sales dates?  Looking for a quick dessert item?  Look no further than the Sara Lee Outlet Store on 27th Street about 2 blocks north of I-894!  Once registered in the store as a Market Day participant, 5% of your purchases (this includes Market Day items as well as all Sara Lee products sold in the store) will go to Divine Mercy through the Market Day program.  Yes, the store stocks and sells Market Day items along with their discounted Sara Lee products.  All you have to do when you check out is identify that your purchase is "Market Day."  The store clerk will ask for your telephone number, enter it into the computer and "voila," your purchase is automatically recorded and credited to Divine Mercy.  Registration is easy!  Just let the clerk know you need to register, and they will do that right at the time of purchase (the store has a listing of all the schools participating in Market Day--just remember "Divine Mercy" is the one you want registered to your purchases).
